Hi all,
I've decided to start regularly brewing a few high quality beers as a reliable staple (and playing with others on a smaller scale with my older/smaller kit). After much pleasant testing I've settled on what will be my regular IPA - steve_flack's CBA 2010 winning recipe (here), probably my personal favourite of anything I've yet made.
The search is now on to find a favourite recipe for a 'malty' beer - to compliment the hoppy IPA. I'm thinking perhaps a best bitter thats towards the maltier end of things rather than the bitter end (I'll be making stout for that). Does anyone have any recommendations for a top malty beer?
Cheers

Recommend me a top malty beer?
Re: Recommend me a top malty beer?
My recommendation would be to use anything up to 100% Munich. Lovely and malty without being at all sickly.

Thats interesting - I've liked the contribution of Munich the few times I've used it as part of the grain bill, but I'd never considered it in such large quantities. Sounds perfect in fact; their slightly cloying sweetness has put me off some malty beers in the past.
Many thanks!

I love Moorhouses Pendle Witch.
Had my first couple of pints of the real stuff last week and the recipe in Graham Wheelers book is absolutley spot on.

Hi Kev
I'd recommend Caledonian 80/-. Recipe in BYOBRA.
Simple recipe with Crystal and a touch of Chocolate Malt.
In mine I upped the hops a bit and used a Fuller's yeast.
I called it Caledonian Heavy

This brew was so nice I've just started another one!
