Cant be bothered to name this one apart from maybe 'House Bitter' etc etc:

DWB = 25g
AMS = 10ml

3Kg MO Pale Alt Malt
1KG Munich
300g Caramalt
250g Wheat Malt
200g Amber Malt

50g Willamette 5.6% @ 90mins
30g Willamette 5.6% @ 15mins
20g Willamette 5.5% Flameout

Nottingham Ale yeast

Its all looking good. Fermenting away nicely today, used my pump for the first time with this one and it certainly improcved the run off into the boiler and the reduction of faffing about as I could pump straight into the boiler from the mash tun. Some piping changes to be made ready for next time. might also have to learn how to solder copper pipes! :shock: :shock: :shock:

Did an extract brew last year with a very similar aroma hop schedule to this, except that I also dry hopped with another 20g of Willamette (and used Challenger for bittering). The flavours and aromas from the Willamette were awesome, very strong blackcurrant flavour almost Ribena-ish but more tart, all my friends still say it's one of the best tasting beers I've ever brewed, very very fruity. Hoping to do something similar to that original extract recipe but an all grain version eventually. My next brew (Allendale Wolf) also has Challenger for bittering and Willamette for flavour and aroma too. Would love to hear how your all Willamette turns out though, wouldn't mind trying something like that myself

Excellent thanks for that! I must admit Willamette were'nt a personal choice it was more of "what do I have 100g of hanging around....?" Never used them before and this should be some kind of normal brown ale, not very dark more of a lovely golden shiny brown ale. I shall keep you posted once its finished.

Sounds fantastic, you might end up surprising yourself how good these hops will taste in your brew if it's a use stuff up brew. I did an all Fuggles Mild last year and was bowled over by how good they tasted on their own. Willamette usually gets compared to Fuggles but I found them quite different, similar fruitiness but Willamette were much less herby and earthy than the Fuggles and bigger on the berry fruit flavours. Never tried Bramling X but I've been wanting to see how they compare with the Willamette too. Look forward to hearing how it turns out.

I have never used willamette, but I am lead to believe they are a great enhancer flavor carrying hop, I.e. good with other american hops, they help lift a beer.

I'm a big fan of willamette after using them in the tribute clone. Such nice blackcurrant flavours, berry nice indeed. I also like them as a late hop in my stout, a little goes a long way
