"Low Gravity" summer session beer

Post by Goran » Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:20 pm

I'm looking to make a beer for a competition to go into the "low gravity" category. Here is my recipe I'm planning. Any feedback would be appreciated - looking to make a light citrusy summer session beer.

4.2kg MO
0.1kg Torrified Wheat

90mins Bobek 4.5%aa 40g
15mins Bobek 4.5%aa 14g
15mins First Gold 6.7%aa 6g
5mins Dried Elderflower 25g
0mins Bobek 4.5%aa 11g
0mins First Gold 6.7%aa 9g

WLP002 English Ale Yeast

Target abv 3.5%
Target IBU 30

Is that a 25 litre brewlength?

I'd get some caramalt in there too to give it some maltiness.

Yes, sorry 23 L brewlength.

I'll add 150g of Crystal. I'm just slightly concerned about residual sweetness being too cloying as the WLP002 won't attenuate too much.

Decided to lower the MO to 3.7kg and mash at 65C to get around 3.5%abv and to dry it out a bit more.
