Newcastle Brown Recipe

I bought myself a couple of bottles of Newcastle Brown the other day and was surprised how much I enjoyed them. These days I usually prefer to drink blond beers. Anyway, I've decided that I'd like to brew up a batch of brown ale, preferably something akin to Newcastle Brown, and was wondering whether anybody had any recipe suggestions? I've got David Line's recipe and could modify this to use malt instead of sugar, but just thought I'd check first to see if anybody has any better ideas?
