Grain to extract

Post by MrD » Sat Mar 17, 2007 5:26 pm

I hope this is a simple question!!

How do you convert a grain recipe into an extract recipe :?

I quite fancy doing an extract recipe for ease - possibly Wheelers TTL.

Hey Daab, thanks for that.

I have 3kg of Brupacks LME. So I'm 160g short!

I also have a pack of spray malt - how much of that do you reckon I will need to make up the 160g shortfall of LME?

Her indoors not too happy  - boiler has taken out the RCCB twice (connection must have got wet when sterilizing).

Missing bits of her telly!

On the boil now - 90 mins to go........

Might try and talk to MrsD

Not a bad plan.

The boiler had a few spiders and woodlice knocking about, so I thought I would give it a bit of a clean up before brewing :!:

Good rolling boil now....

I had some yeast in the fridge a few months and I've introduced it into my new brew last night. I made it into a starter the normal way and it looked OK.

This morning no activity in the fermenter

Do I:-

1) Wait for another 12 hours?

2) Do I introduce a packed of dried yeast (Nottingham Brewing Yeast)

Not sure if I should mix the two different yeasts?

It was yeast from a local brewery, it worked OK a few months ago.

It was quite active yesterday, but not rampant!

I took a chance - maybe it back fired.

If it's not doing anything tomorrow, I'll hydrate the dried yeast.

Just checked the fermenter - full activity. :D

Thanks again for your help - it's good to know that there is someone out there to answer any queries.

Looking forward to testing in a few weeks time!
