Sparkling water

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Just a quick one that came to mind today. I imagine it has been asked before but havent seen it as yet.....

Rather than making a kit up with flat water what would happen if I made it up with sparkling water? Is it a disaster waiting to happen??

High levels of CO2 inhibit yeast growth, so I wouldn't advise it.

If sparkling water was the only water you had I'd say go for it, just give it a good old thrashing with a spoon to get most of the gas out before you use it.
However, if you have a choice then there is no up-side to using sparking.

Had no plans to do so but the thought just struck me the other day. Thankyou for your insights!!
