does water treatment affect colour

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

have started to soften my water and my first all maris otter beer seems considerably lighter in colour than same recipe with out treatment.

this is just me judging based on whats in the sample tube , nothing more sophisticated.

am i imagining it?
