The Cornelius Job - All kegs allocated
We have become aware of some Cornelius Kegs in the depths of Europe.
Our plan is to sneak over there in the dead of night and take lots of them away.
OK, we will have to pay for them, but they are incredibly cheap. I plan to use this thread to hold all the latest updates for whats going on.
The first post in the thread will be the latest news as to whats happening.
The second post will contain a list of who wants how many.
The third post will for now be a holding place where we will keep track of who has paid and who has collected.
What do we know about these kegs?
These are ex PEPSI kegs, and as such have ball lock fittings. Those that have been ordered before haven't all had pressure release valves upon delivery, but we are looking to ensure these all will have. These kegs are all used, they have not been serviced or pressure tested so you are buying with a bit of risk, although fixing them is not too hard. They also all need cleaning. Previous ones have all been in good condition though, so we are hopeful our lot will be the same.
Whats happening?
The current plan is to have them shipped to polymoog's secure warehouse in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, then we will try to relay them around the country from there. I am expecting them to cost in the region of £15.00 each, but will be able to confirm that once I have a price for the shipping.
We have capped the number of kegs at 640 as this is a good number for shipping. We are in the process of getting final quotes for the shipping of these.
Once we have details we will let you know the final cost, and who to send you monies to. Once the money is in we will place the order and get the kegs.
We currently have 651 kegs allocated, but some people are bound to drop out when they have to put their hands in their pocket.
We have been in contact with the supplier, and due to the size of the order and other commitments we are going to have to be patient. It may well be towards the end of Feb / March before we can get them. We will reopen this discussion nearer the time.
Distribution
I don't think we need to worry too much for now about it but there appears to be lots of volunteers who can shift a load at a time. I think we can work this out nearer the time.
Caveat
We may end up with too many applicants for kegs for what we think we can realistically move, or get. Preference will be given to regulars of the forums 'Jims Beer Kit', and 'The Home Brew Forum'.
Some kegs will be in better condition than others, it will be purely pot luck as to those that are allocated to anyone.
This is being organised by a group of people who happen to be members of this forum. This is not being organised by Jims Beer Kit, and as such Jim and the rest of the site Admins will not be liable if all goes horribly wrong.
If you have any questions please contact either.
Runwell-Steve or Titch.
Many Thanks
Steve

Re: The Cornelius Job
Steve, is it worth testing the water with the supplier and if it all works place a second order later? I'd hate to see so much money n organisation ie with logistics as well as all the hard work you are doing ending up going no where.
Im sure if it all goes well, many of us would place a second order anyway, cos they are nice n shiney

Re: The Cornelius Job
We are reasonably comfortable with the supplier, we know of 2 previous large orders which have deen successfully. The Irish Home Brewers had 380 delivered a couple of days ago.bumblebee wrote:Steve, is it worth testing the water with the supplier and if it all works place a second order later? The biggest cost is going to be shipping them, so my thinking is the more we get in one go the better.

Steve,
I currently use a Haulier (Vernon Land Transport) they are based in yorkshire. They often have empty trailers comming back empty from Germany so i could ask if they could arrange a back load.I know the MD very well so im sure he would do us a good deal
I also use Europa World wide,if you can get me a collection address and weights and dims i could get some prices. I am more than happy to help out if needed .
