Yup! Post up the details and we'll tell ya...

(I cheat and use software, others here can tell you the 'proper' formula for the calculation) 8)

22.5L Recipe

4kg of pale malt
250g of flaked maize
250g of terrified wheat
100g crystal malt

Potential Extract of the Recipe
Ingredient Extract for 1lb in 1 gal Extract for 1kg in 1 litre
Pale Malt 30 300
Flaked Maize 30 300
Crystal Malt 24 240
Terrified wheat 27 273

4x300/23 = 52.17
0.25x300/23 = 3.26
0.25x273/23 = 2.96
0.1x240/23 = 1.04

Total potential extract = 52.17 + 3.26+ 2.96+1.04 = 59.43 (degrees of gravity)

Working on a 75% efficiency 59 x 0.75 = 44 The OG will be 1044

IBUs= International Bittering Units

Working out how many bittering units you have, you have to rearrange the formula to:

IBUs = %AA x 2 x amt of hops (grams) / 25

So to work out 85g Fuggles IBU I would .

85g Fuggles x 4.5 Alpha Acid of the hops x 2 / 22.5 = 34IBUs for a 5 gal batch the volume

plz pick holes in it ,say slowly what up with it plz :wink:

How do you terrify yours? Most people make theirs watch horror films in the dark, I just get up first thing in the morning, come down stairs, and stare at it. :D

Your calcs above....you're dividing by 23L, when you said it was 22.5, and I think your extract for crystal is a bit low though with 100g it'll not make much difference at all. I used 268 potential extract for crystal, and 22.5L and get just over 1046

ur DaaB im looking at your post and i can not see how you come up with that ?

"1367.25 points so 22.5L of water works out at 60.8 or 1060.8 call it 1061

factor in 75% efficiency it comes out at 45.6 (call it 1046)" :cry:

And how have i got this all tit up :cry:

4x300/23 = 52.17
0.25x300/23 = 3.26
0.25x273/23 = 2.96
0.1x240/23 = 1.04

Total potential extract = 52.17 + 3.26+ 2.96+1.04 = 59.43 (degrees of gravity)

Working on a 75% efficiency 59 x 0.75 = 44 The OG will be 1044
