Coopers Real Ale kit
Coopers Real Ale kit
Hi all, third kit on the go, did it today with some brown caster sugar (I know shoot me now) ended up forgetting to go my homebrew shop and I don't drive so wouldn't of had chance to get up there for a week or so, so just went with what I had.
So it went in with a kilo of it as said to do with the instructions, honestly I am intending to leave this one going longer then my last two brews so didn't bother doing a hydrometer reading, no rush to drink this.
So how long should I leave it in the primary? and how much priming sugar should I use for bottling, my normal is 150g for a 5 gallon, but never done a coopers so?
Also any good experiences with this beer? Just got it as a cheap easy drinkable kit, was £10 at tesco.

Re: Coopers Real Ale kit
Cozzyb; Industry standard suggests fourteen days in the FV and it's guaranteed to have fermented.
But, that's bollocks, actually. Because, a Muntons kit has every potential never to ferment out. Whilst a Coopers kit, if at the optimum temperature, can sizzle out inside a week, easy.
So, as ye in no rush, and it's a Coopers? Couple of weeks and job's a good 'n

Good kit, but probably not going to turn out too good with that sugar. Depends on your taste buds I guess....
£10 is a good price though.

hi cozzyb,
Coopers real ale is a great tasting kit, improved by dry hopping, priming for bottles is normaly 2g sugar, im trying natural carbination, see my post, fizzy beer, but 2g will give you a good head, and best of all it clears very fast

Re: Coopers Real Ale kit
The Real Ale is a fine kit to be sure. I made that one twice this past summer although I have to admit that I just pitched the contents of the can into my bucket and made it in a 2.5 gallon batch, so mine was slightly more bitter and stronger than yours is going to be.

Prima at around 80-100g for the whole batch, depending on your tastes.
It will be a pretty drinkable drop in my opinion, just a little thin but still good.

Re: Coopers Real Ale kit
Started one of these last month, but chucked in 1kg Muntons brew enhancer and 500g of hopped LME and s04 yeast. Only my third brew but it's the first one where I've been really impressed. It tastes nice and strong, like a barley wine, and is smooth and clear after 2 weeks in the keg, I was planning to let it mature up until Christmas / New Year but I can't see much lasting that long....
Well impressed, will be doing it again after I've got through my remaining other kits. Next up is Milestone Pearl...

Made 3 batches of the stuff and loved every drop of it
