yeah, what ade said. This slurry had settled out and been in the primary for a fortnight and has kicked off with no probs. Anything over two weeks in the fridge and I'd make a starter.

We'll it had escaped the airlock this morning so a quick rince and starsan of the lid and airlock after I'd cropped some of the krausen! Didn't have time to rig up a blow off tube but if I need to I'll do it tonight!

currently just bringing Titan Jr to the boil. Looking like a pbg of 1.033 fo a OG of 1.046 ish! nice.

Going to chuck in 45g of challenger pellets for the whole boil.

Looks risky having it sat on the carpet!

aye, but luckily it collected on the lid when it came out of the air lock. I'd died back a bit now and I'm about to crop some off the top for the little beer.

Little beer is just about to start chilling. Went for 45g challenger all boil, and couldn't resist another couple of 15g at 10 mins! :D

Baby Titan has finished now. Went from 1.039 ish to 1.008 so 80% attenuation :D bonus. It's turned out to be a really nice, easy drinking 3.2 - 3.3% mildish kind of beer. I've broken my good hydrometer so the reason the SGs are ish is becouse I don't trust the back up that well as it's quite hard to read and quite old. But hey ho, this is bucket chemistry after all! :D

In the trial jar it looks a nice dark brown with dark copper when held up to the light! I'm glad I went with challenger as it really compliments the roast coffee, toffee flavours that this beer has. I'm over the moon with this beer as it's potentially free beer and gonna be a great easy drinker! :D Result

Weel it looks like Titan has crapped out at an FG of 1.022.

I seemed to have an appalling mash efficiency of 60%. I think this is due to the fact that I did a no sparge mash and the high concentration of fermentable sugars affected the solubility so the efficiency went through the floor! On the plus side I did get a great small beer from the mash. To rectify the ABV of 8.1% I'm going to 'drip feed' molasses into the FV to try and boost it up to 9.5% ish. I have just added 135g of molasses syrup into the fermentor to try and coax the yeast back into life. Once fermentation kicks off I plan to keep adding in 150g-200g increments until i've added 700g. I'm using this method as I've read that dumping a load of sugar in post primary fermentation can result in the yeast packing up and not fermenting.

Apparently there is also a change that this process will drive down the FG as well, once the yeast are active again they can apparently get to work on the more complex dextrin's etc in the wort. I just hope it doesn't dry the beer out too much!
