You can trow them to the sea, river, lake etc. And start fishing bit later. Fishes will learn to come daily same time if you want. Bream, roach, chub and others love it. From the sea ( bigger lakes too ) or during cold water they are all great to eat. I like them raw, sashimi kind ( sea fishes only ). Or small ones salted and with spiced vinegar souse, so bones will get soft after few days. I know you guys let them go free later from keep net when fishing is over.
Pike, valley, perch will come to eat other fishes in same time.
You can all so grow worms in compost for fishing ( worms in used malt looks like huge old roman orgy, eat and ***** ). Result ( worm manure / composted soil ) is great for growing what ever you want indoors or out.

Pike 8 kg+ ( released ) from espoo at sea, next to Helsinki.

Like the link with brewing and fishing.
Boiled seeds have been a traditional bait for coarse fish here, especially wheat and hemp. Don't see why barley wouldn't work just as well.
We don't much eat the little coarse fish, but its worth remembering if times get really hard....

Nice idea with fishing.
My missus has got a couple of chickens and wondered if it would be ok for them.
A lot of the nutrients have probably been lost though so maybe not.

Used malts are ideal for chickens, they love 'em.
My used grains go to some neighbours down the road, in return I get nice fresh eggs.

When bream or tench is bigger than 1 kg ( not too much small bones ), just take guts out, rinse, dry and put little salt and butter in and out. Pop it to owen ( ready when fins get off ) and voila! The tongue is delicatessen in both fishes. Can be filled with barley hulls or rice before put to owen.
I would eat the fishes and give leftovers, guts etc to chickens. You can mix them in used malts as well and make porridge kind stuff. My mom gotta some "old brown" chickens in summer place every now now and then ( the eggs are great ! ). Or just lightly boil fisher alone or in malt mix.
Small fishes just cut the bones <°/////// D
Used malts is good for making bread too. Gotta check sweetness is in right level.
One summer my wife came to shore. Found me in half sleep in camping chair with beer bottle and fishing rod on the end of dock.
"So this is what you have done whole summer !!" I suppose to be fixing my old wooden sea rowing boat..
