My local Micro brews a really lovely light coloured beer with ginger. It really makes the hoppiness of the beer zing and I would like to make one for drinking this summer. Does any one have a recipe idea for something like this or could point me in the right direction, Also can I assume that if bottled it could last up to 6 months?
Cheers all.

About 200 gm of root ginger sliced and simmered in a bit of the juice makes a good variation on a standard gallon of turbcider.
As for beer, never been a fan of ginger in it myself.

My ginger ale was as so:
(23l)
4500g Vienna Malt
500g Cara Red
500g Root ginger, grated (10 mins)
About 30IBU from a bittering hop (can't remember - i think it was Admiral?)
20g Bobek - 5 mins.
Even with 500g of ginger it wasn't that gingery - if i were to try again at making a really fiery one i'd use a kilo.

I go for 300g of fresh ginger root for the last 3 mins of the boil. Make sure it's whizzed up well before you add it to get maximum flavour. I added a jar of Chinese stem ginger (again whizzed) to secondary as well. It's a lovely brew. Have a mini keg of it which I'll open on Wed to see me through to the wknd.
Give it a go!

P.S, if you haven't got a blender, peel the fresh ginger root (I use a teaspoon as it makes short work of it) and stick it in the freezer a few days before brewing. It grates very easily then.
