Timothy Taylors Landlord Tips
Re: Timothy Taylors Landlord Tips
Three different types of hop are called Styrian Goldings of which Bobek is one, hence the confusion.
Re: Timothy Taylors Landlord Tips
I'm a bit confused by this. I have just bought a fresh pack of Styrian Goldings and Bobek, and the Styrian has alpha acid of 3.31%, but the Bobek is 6.17%captain wassname wrote:Are not Styrian Goldings and bobek one and the same?

Different harvests of the same varieties of hop can have different alpha acids.
Re: Timothy Taylors Landlord Tips
Also worth pointing out that although Aurora is called a "super styrian" it is not actually a styrian at all and is descended from Northern Brewer crossed with another unknown hop.
Although it is a nice hop, Aurora is not really a close sub for styrian goldings/bobek

Thanks guys!
I'm planning this for Monday 5th March...
I'll probably add some Bobek to the hopback (Blichmann hop rocket I got from SWMBO for minding the boy while she goes away when I should be at the Rotherham Beer fest! lol)
I'll add 5% crystal and a little wheat & post a brew day thread inc. use of the hop rocket!
Cheers!

I'd used aurora for finishing a TTL-a-like recently. It's close, more fruity than floral.Piscator wrote:Also worth pointing out that although Aurora is called a "super styrian" it is not actually a styrian at all and is descended from Northern Brewer crossed with another unknown hop.
