Fuller's Discovery
Fuller's Discovery
I am going to try doing an AG batch of Fuller's Discovery, following the recipe from BYOBRA. What yeast would you recommend for this type of beer? I generally use dried wherever I can.
Re: Fuller's Discovery
I believe wyeast 1968 is the strain that Fullers use (or very close to it).

Re: Fuller's Discovery
Or whitelabs wlp002
You could always try getting a starter going from a bottle of bengal lancer. That said the last bottle of discovery had a boat load of yeast in the bottom not sure if thats normal.
Also make sure you load up with liberty hops at the end

Yes, whitelabs is a handy option - you don't need to make a starter so long as the vial is still in date and the OG isn't too high.

Re: Fuller's Discovery
Just had a bottle of Discovery - my first ever. Absolutely delicious. Going to try this one
Re: Fuller's Discovery
I would still make a starter. Vials in the UK are rarely anywhere near fresh enough to pitch direct into 23L batches. Even more so with WLP002 - it's very lazy yeast...Jymbo wrote:Yes, whitelabs is a handy option - you don't need to make a starter so long as the vial is still in date and the OG isn't too high.
