WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
ROGER PROTZ REAL ALE DRINKERS ALMANAC & ROGER PROTZ REAL ALE ALMANAC APART FROM PUBLISHER
IS IT JUST A MORE UP TO DATE VERSION AS I SEE THAT NORMANS RECIPES ARE FROM REAL ALE ALMANAC
I HAVE JUST ORDERED REAL ALE DRINKERS ALMANAC AND WONDER IF I NEED TO ORDER THE OTHER ONE AS WELL
THANK YOU PAUL

Re: WHATS THE DIFFERENCE
NO NEED TO SHOUT
What are you hoping to get from the book?
The Real Ale Almanacs are just the newer versions of the Real Ale Drinkers Almanacs, but they are all quite old now.
Editions 1 to 3 were called the Real Ale Drinkers Almanac, and editions 4 - 6 were the Real Ale Almanac.

Re: WHATS THE DIFFERENCE
I don't think these books contain any recipes.
Norms recipes are his interpretation of recipes based on the beers that are described in these books.

Re: WHATS THE DIFFERENCE
ok thanks for that I was thinking if the book shows grains and percentages og ibu etc I might be able to use beersmart to concoct something similar to it
never mind I havent found a recipe for adnams mild but did find one giving grain percentages that said rp book was source of info,I will have to wait for it to arrive and then see

Re: WHATS THE DIFFERENCE
The almanac is a bit variable from a recipe point of view. Some beers have almost all the info you need to knock up a similar recipe, others have virtually no info. I think it depended on how much information each brewery was willing to divulge.
Re: WHATS THE DIFFERENCE
And some of the info it does have is probably wrong. Brewers aren't always that truthful about what they put in their beers.
