Just checked the SG as the main thrust of fermentation seemed to have stopped and it's gone from 1046 to 1010 in 72hrs

Is that normal

I make that 4.8 ABV so far
BTW Andy & Lou had a taste and i think that i've managed to find the right balance with the dried Elderflower and think i've got what i was after, some background flavour rather than it being too overpowering

IIRC you started at 1064 so currently at 1020 you're brew is 5.9% already if my calcs are correct

I am a fan of the bin bags as well. The wife made some that work nicely.

i tried an online calc and it said 6.4%
it's all fun and games but i have to drink this stuff. I added extra grain cause i didn't expect to hit anywhere near 74% ion my first brew and i was afraid of making 22 or 23l of holy water

To calculate abv, divide the difference between original and final gravity by 7.45.
thanks DaaB

This has been in the keg for around 5 days and has cleared nicely - tastes great, really great, really really great!

Not going back to kits unless i'm pushed for time

For most of this evening I will be enjoying my 'Erection

it's got a bit of a haze, maybe chill haze as it seemed ok at room temp from samplers but the keg has been in my beer fridge at 13 degrees since 7am. anyway it tastes awesome!
