First brewing emergency today, so thats averaging one a year at the mo!
Moving 2 FV's of lager (55l each) from the garage through the house and out into the garden.
Reason: Too warm even in the garage. So hoping to get an average of 7C or less outside now for a good month, optimistic I know
Problem: The plastic tap caught on the door strip between the kitchen and reception room and pulled the tap off its nut! Its one of those crappy white plastic taps( where the nut is looser on the thread) not the usual ones I use, the black ones meant for wine fermenters. I ordered some more of those and they came today fortunately so I had a spare strong black nut.
Q. How fast does lager pour out of a 60l barrel with a 25mm hole in the bottom?
A. Too fast!

Trying to plug it with my hands but still lost about 15-20L of beer across the wooden floor. Luckily wifey was in so she ran to get some duct tape. Then I had chance to get the tap back in wedge it on a step while I got a new nut to screw the tap back on. Of course I had to get my arm right in to do this so scrubbed my arm like a surgeon and in we go. I've heard others do this with no bad affects to the beer. But I guess its not recommended!
That room is going to smell now I reckon!
Trying to look on the bright side. At least it wasn't on carpet!
