1 Saltaire Brewery Empress IPA (an all English hopped IPA).

If we get thru that lot, I'm sure BeerClub leftovers could come into play.

Hello All if you want to enter your IPA into this essential English IPA competition of the year, you need to contact me before 15th March, no entries will be accepted after this date, I will be sending out labels this weekend, MCBA members will be hand delivered to the Crown Nuneaton this Saturday.

This will be a great meet and a decent competition to enter with feedback from NGBWJ Judges as well as Judges who work in the commercial beer sector.

Good luck to all that have entered.

Ok chaps and Ladies, this is the last call (almost) for entries to what will be this years Biggest English IPA competition.

We are pushing nearly 40 entries for this competition, but we still have room for a few more, and there will be Trophies and prizes for the winners sideboards, so get your entry in and come and enjoy a great day of celebrating IPA's.

Entries close at midnight on Friday March the 15th, I will not be accepting any after this date.

So if you have a beer you want to enter, email me shane@bridestone.com please provide a name and an address to post the bottle labels too in the email.

Entry fee is taken on the day.

Good luck.

Not many days left, 4 before close of entries & just shy of 40 entries, it would be nice to get a round number, or above.

So if your considering entering, email me before midnight on Friday & I will post bottle labels and final details out to you.

Email me with your name and address if you want to enter your English IPA.

Cheers

This is open to everyone? I had been led to believe it was only open to members of Northern Craft Brewers and Midlands Craft Brewers. The way this was publicised certainly didn't suggest to me that entries from elsewhere were invited, which makes the claims on it being 'Englands premier IPA competition' a little hollow.

I think its fairly relaxed, of course it would be nice if the winners were here to receive their prizes :) There are a few people coming from further afield who have entered as far as I know.

It was originally planned to be a NCB & Midlands only competition, however we had enquires from cambridge, brighton etc etc, and have people coming from that far afield with entries, on the day, therefore I opened it up, If you can get there on the day with your Entry in hand you can enter.

Therefore not that hollow, & we will be pushing 40 entries, which is not too bad considering we are only a lowly little club in the north, & hopefully it won't be the first Single Class English IPA Competition, we hold,if you have a suitable beer & want to enter it your more than welcome to.

Cheers

Not sure if it was just my brewing agenda, I didn't feel like there was massive notice given for the comp. Given best condition from the bottle would be 7 weeks from brew day based upon 5% abv this put me off entering. Plus I cannot be there so would have thought it bad form to enter.

Nevertheless will be v interested in all future meets. I know I am going to be missing a great occasion

I think the competition was made public on the NCB website sometime last year. Sorry we didn't make it more public on the forums at that time :(
I did this thread and http://pdtnc.wordpress.com/2012/02/03/t ... 1st-march/ as a reminder to people and I've been flogging it on Twitter since the initial announcement.

Its all thanks to Tony at Saltaire Brewery that he is allowing us to, pretty much, take over the brewery for our competition :) As he can't attend due to family commitments I'm sure if any of you have the odd spare bottle of homebrew he'd be really happy to try some of your beers. cheers :)

All of the publicity, your blog post included, lead me to believe that this was a closed shop between the NCB and MCB.

This sentence, in particular gave me that impression:
We invited the Midlands Craft Brewers, to make things a little different as last year it was just the NCB, so this will be a bit of an Inter region competition
I think there was a lack of clarity, perhaps, and it being open to all was not well communicated.

I will definitely be along, bringing my latest which should be close to drinkable by the time we swing around to it, but I'm not entering it based on a number of factors, the main one being FEAR... but also it only hit 1039 and isn't an AG brew...

Still, I'll be bringing 4 bottles of it along for constructive criticism and will have to bring SWMBO since she claims to be more of a beer head than me, and also is from down t'road anyway so if you want to spot me I'll be the Scouser carrying a Wychwood box and being pulled along by a tiny Ginger Yorkshire lass :)

Looking forward to meeting as many Jims folks as fancy a chinwag... also might be up for that post-drinking curry that was mentioned 3 pages back if anyone is up for it I'll be open to suggestions

I'll sithee

Paul :)
