I want to use some CaraGold malt in cider, to make a very slightly malted very slightly toffee cider.
If I steep it in water WITHOUT mashing, will it add to my OG or simply supply flavour and colour?
CaraGold is basically very lightly toasted crystal; http://maltspecialists.com/index.php?ma ... ucts_id=49
Will this add to my OG?

Crystal malt doesn't need to be mashed to get sugars from it, so I'd think you would get a boost to OG; I don't know how much, but probably not a lot.RobWalker wrote:I want to use some CaraGold malt in cider, to make a very slightly malted very slightly toffee cider.
