sorry, another question- when i am putting the crushed corriander seeds in- do i put them in a muslin bag like the hops? and about the bobek as a flameout steep- what exactly does that mean? I assume it means putting them in after the heats is turned off after the boiling time. but how long do I leave the bobeks in for until I transfer to FV?

thanks

No, just put them in the boil. But then why are you putting hops in a muslin bag? They should be free too. Do you not have a filter?

Yup.

About half an hour should do the trick.

thanks daveo

no, i dont have a filter on my boiler yet- got a nice ss 50 l pot from germany, havent done anything to it yet- was gonna get the hang of mashing first. would you say theres much of a difference between using the hops in a bag rather than just putting them in the boiler?

thanks far- a difference that I could rectify by using more or less hops, or a difference that means I should put in a tap and filter becos the beer will be much better?

rito, last question concerning the bobek- do I add them after flameout for about half hr while I'm cooling my wort, or do I add them in for half hr, wait, then take them out and cool wort?

If you don't have a filter then yes. They get everywhere and will block your bottling stick repeatedly. I pestle and mortar mine these days.

Re 0 min hops these are different to dry hopping. there will be significant hop oil infusion during the cooling period don't worry.

What an excellent beer. I made this about 5 weeks ago and put it into six bottles and a king keg. I finished the keg off last night. Only problem is that damn smell the yeast gives off. Happily, it does not affect the flavour.

Top marks for this, sir.

Just a quick question, what water profile did you use? I have very very hard water and see this as being a potential problem for this....

Just like to add, I just kegged this today after it fermenting for two weeks, and even flat its great. Cant wait for it to carb up, I may even get another batch on the go while its carbing as I can see it dissapearing very quickly.

stupid question but do I need to add the protofloc as normal (15mins before end of boil) in this recipe or would you advise against to maximise flavour/protein in suspension
