Removing tap from Baby Burco boiler

Hi, I'm hoping to start all-grain brewing and have got two 33 litre Baby Burco boilers. One for a HLT and one for boiling the wort. However the original taps as fitted are not very good and are fairly high up giving a large dead space. I would prefer to remove these taps and fit an alternative to include a hop filter and at a level to allow syphoning to reduce the dead space.

Has anyone any experience of removing these taps as there doesn't seem to be any visible or obvious screw or fitting.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you a picture of the fitting?

Than one that came off my old baby burco was a straight forward screw threaded tap.



Once you get the tap out a simple tank connector and dip tube arrangement (or similar) will get over the dead space.

Hi, are they really old Burco's with a twist top (like a Keg) as opposed to a lever style like in Barneey's pic ? If so put a mirror inside the burco and shine a torch down the inside of the tap you should see a screw .
I got no further than this on a burco I sourced for a mate, the screw wouldn't budge, you can try heat, but on our one it was a new blade in the hacksaw and butchery we got there in the end . good luck

If it was anything like the one I had it needed a large allen key inserted in to the tap on the inside whilst turning the tap on the outside to remove it. I think it was a 19mm allen key.
