I'd just make one small point to ponder as a guy just about to take the step into extract/BIAB/All grain (one day)

Doing research, I've priced out a 32l Stainless stock pot, a new gas ring + tube and reg, 19kg propane cylinder and ALL the ingredients (malts, hops, adjuncts) for making my first planned extract brew at £164.40; divide that by the brew length of 40 pints (23l)

164.40/40 = £4.11/pint

Now I'd put the following to you. Assuming that my reach doesn't exceed my grasp and the gods are smiling - 40 pints of sweet nectar now reside in my keg for consumption for just 10-25p MORE than i'd have paid for the same pint in my local pub. - and that includes the ENTIRE setup in that cost !

And I can brew it again. and again. and again. Assuming a rebrew cost of approx £25 per batch = £0.63 / Pint......

Its all about investment :)

If it helps...Pan and Gas ring. Remember the ring will also need a reg, gas hose and gas cylinder to be costed in. 50l pan is about £12 more too

As im stepping up from kit brewing, I have most things on the fermentation side but nothing on the mash/extract side so thats what I'll NEED to get going. My costs are slightly lower as being a builder, I already have the gas ring for my tar pot; ingredients wise, I dont have a hop to my name and as im extract brewing, im slave to the rather expensive DME/LME scam - thats £20 a batch before i've even started.

Point im making is my first brew should be the only expensive one - and as I already posess certain more expensive items, then im aiming to make brew #1 cost less than buying pint by pint from the pub - in which case I consider it a win :) The costing I put forward were based on me having nothing to work with, and even then came in only just a little more expensive than bar prices

Gotta love the homebrew :D

About the same as me buying the bits and drilling a hole  and yep, thats the best price i've come across for an 8kw burner.

Thats where I plan to be for my all grain setup - im going for a HDPE Mash tun but i like the bling bling steel boiler and lauter tun (and an HDPE mango chutney drum fares rather badly on a gas ring  )

I'd also add the best available costings put LPG at 7.6p/kWh and electricity at 14.5p/kWh so for me gas ticks all the boxes - especially the "half the cost" one ;)
