Well, a few weeks after bottling the pilsner, it's nearly all gone and very well received it was too. Lovely beer, as my wife, my wife's ex-hubby, and even my beer-hating stepdaughter will testify. I'll definitely be brewing another of these and I'm going to have a go at some of the others in the range,as soon as payday rolls around again.

I think I will try one of these next. Recently did a Coopers Pilsner which does come with a lager yeast strain, been waiting patiently for around 5 weeks conditioning but not really impressed with the taste. Bit funky tasting, but that could be my fault, possibly fermented too warm (around 18c).
Anyway, what did you you guys use as your extra fermentables for this?

I get on very well with Mick, he's a canny bloke, though I can see why Fran divorced him. We all get on very well, it's like a bizarre Brady Bunch in our house sometimes

As for extra fermentables, I used good ol' Munton's BKE. Worked a treat.

Just bought my third one of these (Stout) so will be making that in a few weeks, just finished my IPA and already done Newcastle Brown.

Just bottled a Mild IG 1044, FG 1012 with 500g spray malt, 500g brewing sugar.
Had a taste while bottling - thumbs up!

I started the northern ale on monday night made up with 1kg of BE2 though due to keeping track of bottles of water and not the FV was made up to 24 litres. Not to worry will be a nice session drink. L

Just for info:
Having read these recommendations I thought I would drop the Bard a line to ask what they would recommend as a Stella clone. Yes I like my wife beater and after 6 lager brews I have yet to find anything close. (Managed San Miguel with a Coopers Euro Lager). Their reply was:
"Try the Better Brew Export Lager and keep the fermentation temperature to 20C if possible."
I also sent link to this topic for their reference.
Now having recently purchased a temp controller and a mate giving me a heat mat I might now be able to control the temp in my brew box. Here's to hoping anyways

anyone try the ipa... i bought the IPA and the czech pilsner ..looking forward to them ..are ye making them up with 1kg brewing sugar as per instructions or DME / bke

I bought the IPA on saturday. It's sitting in a fermenter with a huge krausen on it. I'll let you know what its like in a few weeks

Just about finished an ipa kit...
Let it brew for 9 days in primary. Transferred to secondary with a hop tea for a further 6 days... Now it's on garage floor for a cold crash, and hope to be bottling it on Thursday
Then, be able to taste it after a fortnight of ferment in bottles and fortnight of cold (well, maybe try a bit before as won't be able to hold myself
)
What I tasted when transferring to secondary was just lovely though!

Just about finished an ipa kit...
Let it brew for 9 days in primary. Transferred to secondary with a hop tea for a further 6 days... Now it's on garage floor for a cold crash, and hope to be bottling it on Thursday

Then, be able to taste it after a fortnight of ferment in bottles and fortnight of cold (well, maybe try a bit before as won't be able to hold myself

What I tasted when transferring to secondary was just lovely though!

Guys who have done the Czech pilsner did u bulk prime this brew?if so how much sugar did you add??im hopefully going to bottle mine tomorrow.....Cheers

I have recently done the mild with 1 K brew enhancer. Been in the keg a week now and had a crafty half. I wasn't terribly impressed, it is a light mild ( we used to get these in Lancashire years ago but rarely if ever seen today) It struck me as more of a very bland bitter rather than a genuine mild. I have one of their IPA kits to make, but I can see myself going back to Coopers if that one fails to please. I will be on my hols soon so it will give the "mild" chance to mature properly, maybe it will turn out to be a really good pint.

I've bottled mine using 140g dextrose. That was last Thursday night and it's Monday now without anything exploding, so hopefully I've not overdone it. I must admit though, I used about a dozen of the 275ml Budweiser bottles which don't seem as substantial as the usual 500mml ale bottles I use, but i figured if they had a commercial lager in them they must be OK. Hmmm...... agree re the Mild

At the moment it is quite bland and tastes like home brew of 20 years ago - i.e. not good
Think I will stay with Coopers (I have a classic Dark about to go into the barrell
) and 2 can kits like woodfordes, in the future!
