first AG taste
first AG taste
I'm not very patient so after just 6 days i tasted my first ag brew, there's a bit of protein haze and it's green but over all i'm impressed. It will probably take 2 more weeks to mature

brewing tomorrow, have no extra ingredients so it's just the same as before with less grain but it will help with the learning process. I read Whelers how to brew real ale at home and it helped me a lot. All the same information is here on the site but it's easier when you see it all organised on one page in front of you. Actually have a shot if i'm wrong but some of the information in the book is a little out dated
Re: first AG taste
It won't be protein, that'll be yeast. You haven't given it time to clear down! Leave it alone!!alexander taipan wrote:I'm not very patient so after just 6 days i tasted my first ag brew, there's a bit of protein haze and it's green but over all i'm impressed. just had a few pints of Taipan 1. I can't explain like some of ye guys what it tasted like but i'll tell you what i know. I could taste the goldings, maybe a little much for my taste but it was good to be able to know what i was tasting. I could taste it was high in alcohol but at the same time the mouth feel was soft. Feel free to shoot me down, i'm sure you all know what such a simple brew tastes like, i'm just giving my inexpeirenced view.
After brewing kits for about 10 or 11 months i feel i've taken a huge step forward and of course this brew is fairly strong so probably needs more time but i can't wait forever on my first brew. To answer, Wez i'm delighted with the taste but i'd like to train my pallet to understand what i'm tasting. Even more hooked now cause i can't wait to brew again

Pardon the expression but i gave my wife some of my wezErection the other night and she couldn't believe the difference between this and kits. She said that it tasted fresh, fantastic and better than wot you get down the 'oak' (my local) i'm guessing that you already know we're onto a winner.
I've dropped on, my local brewery is going to do me 25kg MO for £15 and hops for pence........hapy days.
