Comments, anyone? I've not used Amarillo before but I have 100g burning a hole in my fridge...

I plan on culturing up some Kelham Island yeast to use for this, and will be collecting the slurry to use for the next brew.

Amarillo's rubbish and much over-rated. You're better off sending it to me so I can safely dispose of it :^o

If you do insist in using it (and you probably should) I might have less early in the boil and use more later.

I only say it 'cos I think Amarillo is a great late hop (flavour and aroma purposes). When I used Amarillo I used it all late in the boil and bittered with Magnum. I've not tried Amarillo as a bittering hop. It will clearly work but you'll be losing the lovely flavours and aromas. Opinions are personal and who's to say I am right?! :)

I thought that would be your answer, just wanted to know. I was hoping that by adding at 20 mins and 5 mins I'd be able to retain a good amount of the aroma. I did something similar with an all-Citra beer, but the Citra was 15% AA which made it easier.

Think I might get some Target from the LHBS for a 60 minute addition to boost this up.

Good plan. Use your Target for bittering and then chuck the Amarillo in at flame out. Yum.

I know from my own blonde recipes that that beer will be very good.

I just love these types of beer and if you're not used to using a lot of hops I would add another liter to the boil due to losses.

Wondering about fermenting this at a higher temperature... I'll see how the yeast goes at 18 this time, then maybe up it for the brew after, which will use the slurry from this one.

I went to the KI shop but they were sold out of bottle conditioned Pale Rider, so I'm culturing up some Buxton Brewery yeast for this one.

60g of fugglses and 88g of amarillo at 60mins? Is that right? I've got an amarillo brew planned shortly; will be using 10g of bravo for 90mins, 25g of amarillo at 15mins, 5mins, and 80c steep. My understanding is that the later your armoa hops are added, the more flavour and aroma you'll retain. But it's all about opnions and experimentation, so give it a go I'd say.

The Fuggles are 60 mins boil and the Amarillo are 60 mins steep.

Ahhh... makes sense now. That should certainly be a big aroma hit!
