Am about to mash in for the above brew.
The grain quantities being used are a bit strange as am using up stock of a couple:
Pale Malt - 11 lbs
Crystal Malt - 8.2 oz
Chocolate Malt - 8.2 oz
Roasted Barley - 4.9 oz
Black Patent Malt - 1.9 oz
Oatmeal (From Lidls) - 500 gms
Am going to be mashing quite high as am doing this brew while doing other things so the mash ill be left alone for in the region of 3 - 4 hours.
Hops used will be Goldings with additions as follows:
1 oz - 60 mins
.5 oz - 5 mins
Will also be adding .5 oz of Irish Moss with 15 mins of boil to go.
As a side issue does anyoneknow the potential SG of oatmeal so I can add it into my promash to enable me to work out my efficiency.
Brew Day - 22 Apr '07 - Oatmeal Stout

yesterdays brew went ok with only a slight problem being a slow sparge resulting in me getting lower volume to boil.
At the end of the boil I ended up with about 4.4 gallons at 1.06 giving me an effiency of 69%.
I then drank the sample taken and enjoyed the taste - it was quite malty with a nice hop aftertaste.
