Yes, it won't go off within a year; as long as it's kept dry in a box.

I brought a bag myself a five weeks ago, expecting it to last for months. Five brews later and I'm in need of a new bag.
How come? What's up with it?
They used it all up!

I have just come back from holiday in Norfolk and came across The Real Ale Shop near Wells-next-the-Sea which sells over 50 local bottle conditioned ales from local breweries.

The really interesting thing is that the shop is on a malting barley farm which supplies Woodfordes amongst others. They can supply homebrewers with 25kg sacks of crushed pale malt for £25 if you call in advance to pre-order.

I popped in there last summer when we went to Wells. Loads of beers to choose from and they are all 'real' ales (as far as I could see) =D>

Interesting about the grain supplies - I didn't think to ask if they could supply it! Thanks for the info.

Next time one of you come to Norfolk, Give one of us shout. There are a vary large number of brewers and HBS's in this area. You could have a very interesting time.

If you venture as far as WROXHAM if you are thinking of the NORFOLK BROADS, then you must visit THE SHED. It's a small (PUB) place thats sells all the local ales on tap.

Cheers all.

Hi oldtimer! I have a two week holiday coming up in the Hunstanton area and one of the places the wife wants to go to is Wroxham Barns so I might have to drop into the shed.

I hope to pick up some beers from Beers of Europe in Setch on the way up and will probably drop into the Ale shop at Branthill at some point. Is there anywhere else you would recommend for picking up some beers or brewery tours? I am intrigued by Ole Slewfoot Brewery but have heard mixed reports about their beers...

Cheers!

Donno bout that I'm I'n n.I. And although not that local, I did take a trip to my nearest brewery for a drink and some lunch and picked up a 25k warminsters marrid otter from them , they charged me £36!!!!! Had no choice at that point but would have been cheaper to buy from a brew shop and have posted

£24:06 plus £7 delivery 25kg Crushed maris otter other grains available ie Muinch and pearl.
Great range of hops 100g(£2:88) or 250g (£6:90)
I am waiting for my first order to arrive will add what malting grain was processed at later.
They also have a Lab service Water Analysis
Quote....A full ionic analysis for your brewing liquor,  A full ionic analysis for your brewing liquor, the results of which will be used to produce a recommendation on water treatment to optimise the balance of ions for brewing. Please send a 500ml sample in a clean bottle (an old mineral water bottle will be sufficient) to the laboratory.

You got off lightly bud :D ......I visited a local microbrewery to me the other week to buy some grains , got given a tour which was bloody interesting to see how they brew on larger scale and the bloke was really helpful answering my questions and me and my son really enjoyed it , I asked about buying some grain, 25kg of Muntons maris otter, the bloke went and worked out a price for me.................. £54 for a 25kg sack of maris and £52 for a 1kg of hops.
I bought 5kg for £10... but to be fair he did throw in a 2 bottles of beer.
I was a bit gutted at the prices quoted because I would of loved to take a drive out there every few months and say hello and buy a few bits :(

Just a quick note with regard Brew UK. Their prices are a bit hit and miss (some good, some not so) but I have to mention the excellent service I have just received.
I ordered some White Labs Yeast that was reduced to half price because of a short BBE date. I received my two Platinum Series vials, including postage in 2 days, for the princely sum of £8.97 !
One of the vials had a leak. Not a huge amount but the lid was obviously not air tight. I emailed Greg and a fresh WLP-002 is on it's way as an apology.
Excellent work guys !
I buy from The Malt Miller
