Theres information on LPG regulator cask breathers here
http://www.franklinbrew.org/wp/?page_id=336
You'll need a normal co2 regulator to take the pressure down from 800psi to below 100 psi. Then you can stick on the LPG reg to take it down to .5psi
Ie, Don't attach the propane reg straight to the co2 bottle.
Edit:
You be better dropping the co2 reg pressure down to 15 psi before going thru the LPG reg. Just in case the LPG reg fails so you don't end up with a burst cube and beer down your walls.

Hi!
Thanks for the response... It was really to use withmy exisiting Corni set up and possible a couple of KKTT that I picked up cheap locally...
Unless I travel to the mainland and pick up a cube ortwo I'm not likely to be able to try it with cubes... sadly - as I think they look like a good option for lagering/clearing etc..

Yes, it's through an LPG regulator.Manx Guy wrote:ChuckE wrote:It should be mentioned the tube coming out of the top is linked to CO2 via an improvised cask breather. Thus beer can last for some time without going off.
BTW, in the pic above, the container just to the left is filled with apple wine. I ferment and let is sit a few months, then rack it into a cube with a faucet and the link to the cask breather.
Intersting...
Would that improvised cask breather be a low pressure LPG regulator by any chance?
I've heard of this modification on US HB forums but not managed to find out how it is done...
Any detaisl would be great TY

The LPG regulator has threaded openings at both sides. A threaded fitting with a barbed end is added to each side to connect tubing. Use tephlon tape on the threads.
Assuming one has a cornie keg system, CO2 tank w/regulator, manifold; the LPG regulator is connected to a manifold OUT port.
It's worth noting LPG regulators are directional. It will vent CO2 if installed backwards.
The caps on the cubes have an insert that's threaded to accept 3/4" NPT.

A hole is drilled to open the area under the insert. Then a nylon reducing bushing is applied to the insert. (Teflon tape should be used.)

A female quick disconnect fitting is screwed into the bushing, again using teflon tape.

The female quick connect fitting above accepts the male fitting below.

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=74862
3/16" ID tubing connects the male fitting's barbed end to the barbed end on the LPG regulator.

Malt Miller has been busy and my grain has arrived.
Just need to knock up a 17 Gallon batch to fill these.

OK... This arrived. Filled it with 10L of water and poured a pint. Not a single gurgle! Went at it again.... GURGLE GURGLE GURGLE!!! Big bubbles too! WTF? the Ebay listing specifically says no gurgling!floydmeddler wrote:I don't think beer comes down that side. The outlet is actually split into 2 semi circles. You can see clearly here:The Dribbler wrote:So, if you open the tap (which you have drilled a hole in above the pipe).
Whats to stop the beer pissing out of the hole you've just drilled?
Or am I still missing something?

Not sure if I should ask for £££ back. Might come in handy for water and camping I suppose...

Yep, this is an idea. Just wondering how the tube could be extended and how a float could be constructed. Another concern is sanitising. Ideally, the tap, tubing and float would need to be able to withstand boiling water... It's the only thing I trust these days. The Dribbler wrote:Have a look at this

Again this type of tap to fit the jerrycan cube has a air intake. But it has a tube on the back, maybe it's easier to attach a pipe extension with a float. So it sits above the beer?
Any ideas? Lets crack this!!

one way tho still involves a bit of kit to clean...
a bung with a hole bored thru it, car tyre valve and a large (foodsafe) bag/balloon....
insert the tyrevalve into the bung hole inlet poking out the fat end
put the bung in the balloon neck, valve outwards, and insert the baloon and bung into the hole drilled for it above the beer line.
to pressureise and pour beer attach a bike/foot pump to the valve and pump a bit of air into the balloon/bag.
its basically the principal used in the plastic eurokegs only the beer goes in the bag..

ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate

Here you go, guys. A spigot and a secondary opening, so if opened, no gurgle.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WATER-CARRIER ... 6rk%3D2%26
Assuming it will hold moderate pressure levels, this would do it.

Certainly a unique idea! A lot of bits and bobs involved though...Fil wrote:one way tho still involves a bit of kit to clean...

This looks OK. Main cap looks very big though.ChuckE wrote:Here you go, guys. A spigot and a secondary opening, so if opened, no gurgle.

There must be something... Maybe a valve is the way forward? When the jerrycan is pressurised, the valve remains shut but when beer is being drawn out of the jerrycan, it opens and allows air in? Is there a such hing as a negative pressure valve?

Re: 25L jerrycans to mature/clear and stockpile?
How about a pressure cooker air vent installed inside out it that makes sense. So... if I hook a beer engine up to the jerry can and draw off a pint, the jerry can would begin collapsing under the pressure but the air vent will kick in and allow air to enter again, then close up.
OR a radiator bleed valve? Simply unscrew before pulling a pint.
Yes I know... I'm clutching at straws!

The main cap being big isn't an issue. Just open it slightly when pouring. The trick is to have the container is just the right angle.floydmeddler wrote:This looks OK. Main cap looks very big though.ChuckE wrote:Here you go, guys. A spigot and a secondary opening, so if opened, no gurgle.

You could add a quick connect to the large cap and attach it to CO2... so no need to touch it.
Regarding the pressure valve, if such an item exists and isn't too expensive... would be the holy grail for me. I would apply it to the handle of these 5 liter containers.

There has to be something out there that will do the trick. I'm going to go on a wild google chase.

How about something like the? attach to jerry can with 2 nuts and maybe a rubber washer. Screw goes into it and when it's time to pour a beer, unscrew the screw from the middle and air can enter?

Might be too small actually... Could be really fiddly...floydmeddler wrote:How about something like the? attach to jerry can with 2 nuts and maybe a rubber washer. Screw goes into it and when it's time to pour a beer, unscrew the screw from the middle and air can enter?
