Why?

This brewing game gets under your skin really quickly, and unlike other addictions you want to share it around

Get out while you can.

I moved house and thought, I know, I can start homebrewing, I always liked those Boots kits things, and now I have a relatively empty shed. Then I discovered the joys of ordering small packets of brewing magic over the Internet (ooh, free delivery if I spend over £60 a time, better bump those orders up...), then I was introduced to this forum, then I discovered pictures of shiny Cornelius kegs, and now I'm doomed to dreaming about hydrometers every night.

By the way, here's what I did to my shed last weekend to prevent sun through the windows heating the place up. Thick cardboard, thick kitchen foil and duck tape on the OUTSIDE of the glass. I might do something with polystyrene next. It's like a steel door on a tent, I realise, but every little helps.

good idea fivetide, if nothing else you won't have to worry about light striking any beer stored in the shed.

Not for a few years now... :=P

Seriously though, when hops and paraphenalia arrive in padded envelopes it does all looks a bit dodgy. I explained to the postlady about the smell.

If I were 'growing' though I think I'd use hydroponics in the loft. But I'm not.

Maybe I need a brewery sign outside to guide the local contabulary (not that I've ever seen a policeman in my neighbourhood).

I'll hit eBay and look for 'fivetide + brewery + sign + shed'

Yes. As I was telling Fivetide in a private message, I tasted a little of my brew from the pressure barrel tap last night... now bear in mind it's only had seven days primary and four days secondary so far...

and it was promising. A strange but not unappealing orangey flavour. Excellent carbonation with white foam. Surprisingly complex for a part-brewed beer, actually. What wasn't good was the slightly iffy, very "green" smell which was reflected in the taste profile also - but I assume that's one of the things that will go away with time. It certainly isn't sour or vinegary in any way. And I haven't got a dose of the shits.

I think it looks more like the time joe from eastenders went a bit boogaloo.

I'll be really dissapointed now if fivetide ever post pics of a brew day and he isn't wearing a hat fashioned out of tinfoil to deflect the alien thought rays

Be afraid 8-[ be very afraid the eye of sauron is upon you :wall

The transmitter is in the s30 attachment on the KK i sent you, only tinfoil deflects it so i can tell what you're thinking when you aren't in the safety of your brew shed or wearing your cosmic beret.
