I read something recently about mixing whole hops with some water and then blending the mix with a food processor to make a paste to use in place of hop pellets. You could try that maybe?

I used 7% jaggery in the DIPA I gave you last week, I tried one a couple of days ago and it's REALLY sweet, not sure if that's down to the jaggery or not. I'll try another one before you brew and keep you updated :)

I've got your DIPA here keeping warm, I was going to wait til you said GO! to drink it.

I've blitzed up my hops (Dry without water) for the last couple of dry hopped brews, the blender isn't really that good at it and I'll probably kill it if I keep going at it! :D

Ah, now you mention it, I'm sure I also read that a couple of Magimixes had died during the production of the aforementioned hop paste

Re. my DIPA, it could be a while - I get the feeling it may eventually become an American barley wine!

Tried the hop puree technique with last brew for dry hopping.
Definite result, as I ended up with most of the hops in the bottles :(

Even crashed for a few days at 1C and couldnt drop them all out

Oh love the name by the way and the beer looks killer

Did you rack to bottling bucket through a Tea-ball like I do? I manage to do pretty well with my procedure and the bottles are pretty good.

Hey pdtnc. How do you use the teaball? Did you put a hole on it? I'm liking the sound of this!

That sounds like a plan, any chance of a pic of the set up.
Tried using a hop sock around the syphon before and ended up clogging it, tea ball sounds the job

I boil it for at least 20mins in a pan before putting it near beer, mesh can harbour all sorts of nasties.

Yep, I was sick of floating bags of hops so just throw them in loose now. Though this recipe is going to be all pellet dry hopped, whole hops retain a load of beer!
