Festival Beer Kits - New

Post by tricky_dicky » Mon Jul 16, 2012 11:12 am

Just seen these new kits that will be available from the end of this month

http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/aca ... -Kits.html.

Obvioulsy no one will have tried them yet, but any ideas who produces these - they just seem to have come out of nowhere. Sounds like a good premise anyway, with specific yeasts included for each style of beer, hop pellets + priming sugar also included in the kit.

May well order one to try out in a couple of weeks

They look very interesting. The summer one sounds canny .

They do sound good.
Here's a short description I found

Pilgrims Hope: Complex flavours of tropical fruit and pine needles in abundance, big and malty with the perfect hop bitterness

Father Hooks Best Bitter: Big malty body with wonderful orange marmalade character, the malts are perfectly balanced with hop bitterness

Landlords Finest Bitter: Classic pale ale, biscuit malt tones layered with subtle fruit character and earthy undertones. A real session ale

Old Suffolk Strong Ale: Woody character comes through with a good level of dryness and well balanced sweetness

Golden Stag Summer Ale: A Golden ale bursting with citrus hop character and very refreshing dry bitterness

Pride Of London Porter: Perfect hop bitterness balanced with the smooth character of the chocolate and roasted malts

"Complex flavours of tropical fruit and pine needles in abundance,"

Hmmm...... not sure about that.

Nice to see kit manufacturers trying some different hops! Bit pricey though.

Considering you get hop pellets, priming sugar and a specialist yeast with the kit, I think they are good value

I think they are quite well priced or a two part kit plus extras. Will be buying it from my local homebrew shop though as it will be cheaper without delivery and also I'll get it there and then.

These will be the first three I'll be trying and in this order:

Father Hooks Best Bitter: Big malty body with wonderful orange marmalade character, the malts are perfectly balanced with hop bitterness

Pride Of London Porter: Perfect hop bitterness balanced with the smooth character of the chocolate and roasted malts

Landlords Finest Bitter: Classic pale ale, biscuit malt tones layered with subtle fruit character and earthy undertones. A real session ale

These look like they could be worth ago, and the prices seem reasonable to me considering what you get in the box. 8)

I've just ordered the Golden stag summer ale from brewuk for 20.99 - its an offer price so not long how it will be around, worth a go at that price i reckon! Everytime i seem to place an order recently there are a new range of kits available! will keep you posted how it goes!

I've just ordered the Father Hooks bitter from brewuk at 20.99, i reckon it's definitely worth a go at that introductory price. I like the big malty flavour description. :D

I just hope we don't have to wait too long for delivery. Apparently they'll be available at the beginning of August, so hopefully any time now [-o<
