Just thought I'd put a picture of abbey in,good head or what. One thing I want to ask to kits have a slight plasticy taste to all of them,it's just the few kits I Imagehave done got that slight taste in the backround.

Im going to be doing that kit in the next week or so. Did you use the candi sugar cubes with this kit?

I was going to bottle but after my bottling of the brewferm kriek kit for the girlfriend I might just stick it in a keg. I never realised that bottling would be such a mission :)

Just tasted it again like you do,and I think the plasticky taste came from the froth not the beer itself.I boiled all the water DAAB I presume that rids chlorine.Matti I used light spray malt and the taste, outcome is very good :) .

Hi Matti
How is/was the Kriek?. I bottled a batch of Kriek about 7 weeks ago - tried a bottle last week. I think it still needs to be left longer to mature as it seemed a bit light on flavour and had a very poor head unlike the Triple which was so lively it was almost a year between bottling and drinking. They were in primary for different lengths (Triple 6 days, Kriek 10), priming sugar in bottles for the Triple; boiled sugar solution plus finings added to the bin for Kriek then left another 24 hours before bottling.

Think I just need to leave the Kriek for longer but I was trying to avoid the liveliness of the Triple.

I only bottled it the other day, but il let you know when its ready. It was in primary for 11 days and I also used light begian candy sugar and primed with body brew which is supposed to give good head retention

I've generally been very happy with Brewferm kits but the Kriek was a big disappointment, with smokey taste that is pleasant but only tasting slightly of cherries. If you're making a kriek you want lots and lots of strong cherry taste, like my favourite, Lieffmans.

Blimey DRB, do you want a flake with that!

Plasticy taste sounds like chlorine / chlormaine to me, although I would describe the off taste produced by chlorine as medicinal.

Yeah, that's thing that struck me - the lack of taste. I think I've bought Lieffmans in the supermarket - is it available as a kit?.
