For what its worth i brewed a ringwood old thumper clone with 6% torrefied in it,
and found the taste mildly unpleasant.
flaked wheat or torrified wheat?
Re: flaked wheat or torrified wheat?
Just for an update, I have now brewed the same batch with flaked and torrified, HOWEVER! I did use wb-06 for the first, and danstar munich for the second. However whether or not its the yeast/torrified or both, the one brewed with torri is not great. I mean, its a beer, and its nice, I just dont like the flavour myself. Its got great body and texture, it has a better mouth feel and weight than the flaked wheat brew, but the flavours off.
I really need to now brew one with flaked/torri and the same yeast to see what happened.

Re: flaked wheat or torrified wheat?
Hi all i use 8% TW in all my bitters and i have had no off flavours in fact the head retention and lacing has impoved a heck of alot, plus large ammounts on Tw gives off a nutty/toasty type flavours which in my book is not a bad flavour to have in brittish bitters.
Re: flaked wheat or torrified wheat?
Hi all i was also planning on using flaked wheat in my belgium ales aswell.I have never made true belgium ale before so i thought i would use the flaked wheat instead of TW, this in my book makes more true to the style.Iam going to make a Dark Abby ale using FW but my only concern is will it make the Abby ale cloudy? I used 8% Tw in my I.P.A. wich came 5th place out of 32 beers this year in a NCB competition so using higher ammounts of Tw can't be that bad.
