Hi Cos
If youd made it exactly the same as me your starting gravity would have been about 1092, finishing at 1000 would give you an ABV of about12.3%

I havn't tried mine yet, Im going to leave it a couple of months.

Whens the Baby due?

Here's a view of what the label's will look like, details of the baby's name, birthday, time, weight etc.. along with my family crest & motto.

I'm probably going to change the shape of the label to a more oval shape to compliment the bottle shape though.

Thanks for your replies Jammy.

The baby is due, end of October - so it should have 3 good months of maturing.

I used Gervin GV4 high alcohol wine yeast, the purple one.

It was the only wine yeast I had, left over from a Xmas pudding dessert wine I made a while ago.

I think my Champers is more powerful than 12% - probably due to this yeast.. Wish I knew how much though.

Here's how I think I'll be going with the bottle label, tried to work out the best shape.

The crest is now on the neck, as the label is shorter, due to bottle shape.

My friend is amazing with photo shop, anyone know the best way to glue the labels on?

I'll be getting some nice paper from the stationers & trying to research the best method of gluing - just wondering if anyone has tried before.

Thanks & any comments on design/shape etc.. most welcome.

Looking good. Does it taste as good?
And how about some foils to finish it off. I've seen some on ebay that are reasonable priced. - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150818800602

Try milk to 'glue' the labels on.

That looks great, I'd perhaps try photomount spray glue. but I have not tried it.
ABV will be dependent on starting and finishing gravity not yeast. High alcohol yeast has the ability to go higher than normal, only if the sugar (starting gravity) is availible. unless you added more sugar/fruit than me you will be around the 12-13% mark.
