Milton
Re: Milton
I did. But it is currently on the short list of reasons why my last batch may have gone bad......most likely because I did not rinse it well enough (even though it says no rinse required)
Re: Milton

Bleach. Check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=50389&hilit=bleachBailz wrote:i see what do others use then is there anything in the local supermarket that i could bye?
There are loads of other options. Personally, I use VWP which is widely available in online and offline homebrew stores and a sodium metabisulphate & citric acid solution.

Re: Milton
Personally, I would avoid anything with chlorine in for sterilising. You can end up with nasty chlorophenol off-flavours if not rinsed properly.

Re: Milton
A specialty no-rinse sanitizing product, like Starsan or Idophor, will cost no more than a few pennies/cents per batch - IMHO it's well worth the investment rather than trying to use something which may or may not be as good or as suited to the purpose.

Re: Milton
I believe Milton tablets are basically a £baby-targeted package of bleach and salt. I used bleach for sterilizing for years (and oxyclean or soda crystals for cleaning beforehand) - its great if you rinse well but these days I wouldn't be without my starsan for convenience alone.
On the subject of Milton tablets, this thread could be of interest.
