My first all grain, Eskimo Stout. I increased the original recipe by about 20%

3000g Pale malt
480g Roasted Barley
1200g Flaked Barley
57g Fuggles (for last 60 mins)
5g Irish Moss (for last 15 mins)

White Labs (WLP004) liquid yeast.

Excellent. Great set up with Stainless steel boiler, gas burner & aeration pump for a 1st all grain.

Once you've made the jump, there's no going back from my experience.

I clean up stuff as I go along, once I've used certain aparatus. Makes the tedious chore less tedious somehow. You find you have plenty of time during mashing/boiling for cleaning stuff.

Looks good. Was that the mash temperature you were after?

I was after a temperature of 64deg C. Was very happy with that. Being my first brew I have made a few mistakes which hopefully should improve over the next few brews. I never checked my runnings of sparge until I was down to 1004. I dont know how this is going to effect my end product but its something to watch out for next time. You learn by your mistakes :)

In which case your 1st AG went extremely well. Well done :D

I wouldn't worry about the fact that you sparged down to 1.004. You'll still make beer. Next time you'll know to check periodically.

Did you syphon out of your boiler?
No. I bought a sieve that has pull out handles both sides and fits over the fermenter perfectly. I lifted the boiler and poured the brew through the sieve to remove the hops and into the bin :)

simple, I like it. Just checking I hoping that I will be going AG in the next few weeks if all the bits get delivered and I have the time to get the fermentation done whilst Im at home.
