2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Really looking forward to the event. I can't understand how Ali has managed to organise this and still have any other kind of life.
Well done

Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Really wish I could get down to help out but my mum's 80th birthday was in the calendar before this
Ali - will we see you at the London and SE event again this year in November?
We're waiting to get the National out of the way first before starting to publicise our Competition.

Getting very excited about this now.
My wife is 6 weeks from giving birth to our twins, and I've talked her into driving us down from York. I fear I may lose all my husband points if I don't win anything. I've had to sweeten the deal with a hotel on the quay and a posh meal out...

There's always the raffle even if you don't win a medal.....RedFrank wrote:Getting very excited about this now.

At least one person is unsure where the Competition is.
It is in the Annexe of the St Werburghs Community Centre, Horley Road, St Werburghs, Bristol BS2 9TJ. Map here - http://goo.gl/maps/i8cQZ

A great event if not epic, some excellent beers, and certainly alot of them. The judges did really well and I'm sure they will have some thick heads in the morning
all round well done to everybody involved and who entered.

Likewise mate, was nice to meet people and put faces to names. Looks like it turned into a marathon day just a shame I had to leave early.pdtnc wrote:Thanks for putting on a great event, had a really good day and good to meet more beery folk and put faces to forum and twitter names.
Looking forward to the feedback sheets and scores now

Well done Ali a fantastic event
Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
That was an amazing day. Ali was impressive doing the swan, appearing serene and in control, but paddling furiously under the surface to get things done? Equally impressive were the judges. So many beers. For those who entered but couldn't attend, every beer I saw getting judged got a serious amount of time and consideration.
Plenty of help/support/instruction for a first time steward, plus I got to meet old and new faces from JBK!
Oh, and thanks for the food from the pop-up hoe down pair though I remain convinced stewards should get more than one jumbo sausage.
Can't wait until next year.

I didn't have thick head from the stewarding . . . it was helping to empty the bottles left afterwards . . . . and then for some reason going with Ali, Sam and co to the local pub, for another beer or two and a game of pub skittles.alix101 wrote:A great event if not epic, some excellent beers, and certainly alot of them. The walk back into central Bristol at 1 in the morning did little to clear my head. . . .
What a fantastic event organised by Ali, it was really good to meet with other forumites and CBA members, to talk brewing and drink beer.
Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
That was a very good event, thanks to all involved and Ali in particular. Late night skittles after the mass clear up proved that a day of drinking beer does ruin what little coordination I usually have
