Hi.
Finished an extract brew as follows. No Problems with boil, ect. The fermentation kicked off normally ten days ago. Just checked the top and found orange specks of mold? Not sure if it is, and will be really peeved if it is. (I have added a photo of shot through the top of fv). If it is mold, is the batch a gonner?
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Sugar 470g
Crystal Malt 315g
Black Malt 24g

Thanks Jim, for superfast reply.
I really do hope it is. I don't think I have ever had that before, I use safale 04 yeast.
Do I just treat it as normal, when reaches target gravity transfer it, ect.... or will that yeast disappear if I leave it.
Sorry for newbie questions, I've only done about 10-15 batches and still learning.
Scott.

In the words of many from this forum... Does it smelling like a rotting corpse? No? Then it will probably be fine.
Looks very much like yeast to me too.

Thanks for the replies.
Just racked it to cornie. Tasted damn good, first time I've overdosed it with late hops.
Still got little bits of orange floaty bits........any idea if this will cause me problems after carbing and leaving for a couple of weeks? or if its yeast will it just die off in fridge...sink to bottom or top?

The clumps should sink eventually - even if you drink them, they'll do you no harm.Pillbory wrote:Thanks for the replies.

Re: HELP is it mold? with picture!
Yeah, no need to worry; all my brews have something akin to that floating on top at the racking stage - I just ignore it and it goes away before drinking time.Pillbory wrote:Jim wrote:The clumps should sink eventually - even if you drink them, they'll do you no harm.Pillbory wrote:Thanks for the replies.
