Feedback sheets have been sent out, along with certificates and medals where appropriate.
Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition: feedback sheets
Am sure this will pick up once they all arrive. But:
If you receive a feedback sheet judged by me (Steve Wright - I judged porters, bocks, brown ales and some of the Amber and dark lagers). Or if you receive a feedback sheet filled out on squared paper in in pen and would be willing to take a photo of it on a smartphone or digicam and send that to me I'd REALLY appreciate that.
It's in the name of research - I'm doing my PhD in Educational Research looking at how 'lay people' (rather than 'supertasters') learn to make and judge sensory evaluation. The BJCP course and the NHC event were core sites for this research. I have tons of data as I was recording a lot on the day but as anyone who was therewill testify it was all a little hectic so documenting the forms as we went along wasn't possible.
So if you get a form I did please PM me here or tweet @stevewright1976 on twitter or email to the address on the forms.
Cheers all!

Steve - did you manage to make head or tail of the output of that magic pen you had me writing with?
Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Yes I did - worked really well (thanks!) and I have photos of a few of your sheets to help with that as well. The photos help in the difficult step of trying to line up the template with the text captured! i.e. which box was ticked cos thay;re close together! (The captured images DON'T capture the over-printed judging template oyou see so trying to do that with an image as a PDF watermark...SamT wrote:Steve - did you manage to make head or tail of the output of that magic pen you had me writing with?
However it's my sheets that I'm kind of lacking and would help me remember what I judged!!! Got rather a lot of data to deal with now so this is a possibly unnecessary extra: only halfway through writing up the fieldnotes and descriptions of photos (130 of them) and already hit 50 pages/12000 words!!!

I've got to go to the post office and be charged £1.69 to pick up a delivery with not enough postage on it.... could it be feedback?!!! Maybe Ali owes me a beer now

Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Let's hope so. £1.69 - sounds like I may have missed the stamp....pdtnc wrote:I've got to go to the post office and be charged £1.69 to pick up a delivery with not enough postage on it.... could it be feedback?!!! Maybe Ali owes me a beer now

I had to pay 10p for cludiad diffygiol (difficient postage) and a quid ffi drafod (handling fee). But I'll let you off, kind soul that I am...

You're kind. My grandfather (who worked for the Post Office) told me that it's illegal to withhold mail, and that you can refuse to pay the fees.....This may or may not be true.Capn Ahab wrote:I had to pay 10p for cludiad diffygiol (difficient postage) and a quid ffi drafod (handling fee). Oh right, should I dial 999 or take out a private prosecution next time? Either way, I doubt it would hasten getting hold of my feedback.

I think you just tell them to give you your post, and that's about as far as it goes.Capn Ahab wrote:Oh right, should I dial 999 or take out a private prosecution next time? Either way, I doubt it would hasten getting hold of my feedback.

Re: 2012 UK National Homebrew Competition
Had to pay £1.19 to pick it up from the post office.
But not complaining, happy enough to have someone organise an entire competition for me and others to enter!

Sorry about the postage issue. I just bought stamps and put them on by weight. I think the large letter may have been what caught me out.phatboytall wrote:Had to pay £1.19 to pick it up from the post office.

Lesson learned. And I'll sort out paying people back (monetarily or in beer) if they had to pay extra to get their feedback.
