How much range would you be interested in stocking? - I would imagine a small selection of the most popular pellets would be a good starter for 10. Fuggles, Goldings, Cascade, Saaz and some Challenger possibly...

Personally I would love to see you stock the Brupacks Flavapaks (both Lager and Ale) - as these are a good catch all for improving all kits - certainly for beginners and the more casual brewer.

Hi Steve,

I am quite fortunate to work in a Wilkos that has the 3m later. Since the new Kitchen relaunch, lots of customers have commented on how comprehensive the range is compared to what it was. One of the biggest things I get asked is, 'Do you stock the plastic PET bottles" I know we can't accomodate all customer request and that layout space is at a premium, but would this be a viable online option, as I feel we would sell more of these than the glass bottles we currently do.

Hi Danny, PET OXI-BAR bottles are not widely recyclable and only last a few brews, glass swingtops would work out financialy better for everyone in the long run.

I'm not sure whether hops are the best thing for Wilko to stock. Whole leaf hops don't have a good shelf like and pellet hops seem more suited to AG brewers rather than kit tweakers. Maybe hop aroma oils would be a better match for the typical Wilko brewer.

And if we stay on the kit modification theme, perhaps a few more yeast options be good?

Our supplier is coming in for a meeting next week to discuss all the opportunities mentioned in this thread. We are meeting up with the online team at the same time as this is the quickest route to get new products on sale. Lager yeast is one of the items on the agenda.

If you stock hops, will you be cheaper than barley bottom and Worcester hops, because they are really way too expensive? And if yes, will you also stock the rarer hops and malt, or just go for the big profit / turn over items.

In that case, they do the swingtops, although are quite pricey.

Andover have some clear bottles now at £8 for 6, you're dead right about pricey Danny.

My local wilkos also has a new range of homebrew in stock, just picked up 3 Woodfordes at £15 a pop! looked at the rest of the kits and dont think I will be bothering, the home brew shop I use has a much larger selection and tends to be a better choice of the higher quality kits including the wine. I would use wilkos more if they increased the 2 can beer kit range and offered some I had actually heard of, the £15 price helps aswell

On the other hand for those of us with no LHBS within 30 miles, Wilkos improving their range is a godsend, saving me a packet on P&P costs already!

It would be good though as you say to do some more kits online (Festival, Rest of the Woodfordes Range), as the space in each store is clearly limited.
