Brewing at this time 18.00, sorry no pics (can't find camera) :evil:

All grain Size: 23 litres
Color:
42 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 15 IBU
OG: 1.048 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 4.4% v/v (3.4% w/w)
Grain: 2.43kg British pale
0.26kg Wheat malt
0.48kg Cara Red
1.35kg British crystal 70-80L
Mash: 80% efficiency
Mash-in at 65°C for 75 mins
Sparge at 75°C
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.048 23 liters
Cool the wort to 19°C and pitch with a suitable Ale yeast. Fermentation should be approximately 4 to 6 days, with a maximum fermentation temperature of 21C. When the gravity reaches 1014 or 3.5 Brix cool the beer. Allow the Allow the beer to mature for at least 14 days at 0 to 2C.

Hops: 11.3g Galena (13% AA, 60 min.)
76g Cascade (aroma)
39g Brewrs Gold (aroma)
Yeast: Safale s-04

If I evening brewed, I doubt I'd get done untill 1 or 2am.

I started brewing at around 10am today & finnished at 6.30pm. :o

I don't have the luxury of HERMS systems or even 2 boilers though!

Cheers, thanks for the encouragement, finished around 19.30 and just sat down. Had to brew cuz I won't be able to later this week. Total time today about 6 and half hours using a brupak boiler and mash tun. I actually started heating the water around 2 pm so it was evening by the time i posted on the forum a little bit of cheating perhaps? :oops:

A couple of probs though, hit me og of 1048 but a bit short on the wort quantity, so had to liquor back which dropped me og to 1034, being a bit of a newby wasn't sure how to get me og back to 1048 advice please about that.

Rest of brew was pretty good, after the boil I dropped the beer into the fermenter, already nice and clear however a tad on the bitter side onb first tasting. But I feel this will mellow after fermentation and conditioning.

Colour looks pretty good, will try and post a piccy when I find me digicam.

Yeah, 'twas really i suppose, mind you I did get up at 4 am to go to work.....well thats my excuse :D

As I sometimes fall into that category when I miss my efficiency, that's what I was thinking, but you put it so much better Daab.

Interesting hop schedule. Very little bittering, but masses of flavour and aroma, I'd expect.

Seems the likely one is to split the difference and use the spray malt. Or be a better brewer!! :D

Yeah, I thought so too. I'm not overly keen on really bitter beers but the use of cara red malt in the recipe prompted me to try it. I found the recipe on the 'net somewhere along with one or two others I saved. I've not tried Galena hops before either.
