Hard water killing kettle elements
Hard water killing kettle elements
What should i add to my water to stop build up on my kettle elements?
Re: Hard water killing kettle elements
Hard water = high alkalinity
You need some acid in there which will work two fold:
-It'll reduce the alkalinity in the mash liquor
-At the same time it will inhibit the formation of scale on your elements

To a point yes, i suppose its omse kind of acid treatment, but Im not a fan of the idea.
I cant see how something claims to make EVERYONE's mash pH 5.2 when you dont know the level of alklinity present to begin with....
Chuck it in and see if it fizzes, if it does then youve got the scale off.
