Yes it is £7 to £8 for 500ml but at a concentration of 1.25ml per Litre work out how long it will last!

Well in the homebrew shop starsan is only 9 pounds something for 8 fluid ounces (I have no idea what that is in mls) and how do you get around the prescription problem ?

What prescription problem? You can still buy online without a prescription.

The Starsan is around 200ml then thus diluted is something like 3x the price of Videne.

From chemist direct it's like 3.50 a bottle but you need a prescription. On others it's closer to 8 quid and I'm guessing you still need a prescription.
So videne you wash out your Fv then sterilise with videne ?

Clean with cheap Oxy then simply spray with Videne 10% solution diluted at 1.25ml per litre of water and use without rinsing.

I've been doing this for over a year without issue.

I wouldn't base the decision on price - given the dilution rate Starsan is dirt cheep too, so its no biggie either way. I believe both also need to be at the right PH which can mean some people's tap water isn't suitable, including mine unfortunately. What swings it for me is that starsan seems to last longer when mixed, so its good to have in a squirty bottle on hand whenever you need it, and is said to be less affected by any remaining organics. But both work.

Cheers

Question guys... Why do you need a prescription in order to buy Videne?? I enquired at a couple of local chemists and I wasn't asked to provide a presciption... I was making enquiries about the costs of buying the stuff and they were very helpful

I just noticed this post.

Someone asked about dosage rates for PBW so I've added a link to PBW Excel Calc Sheet version 2 available for download here (Excel .xlsx file).

For more info see topic: PBW - Excel Calculation sheet
Topic was based on a request by Orlando for a downloadable Excel sheet that suggests dosage depending on cleaning being done and amount of cleaning solution you want to make.
