Millemg's Chinook Wherry :)

OK, I had to post this as I think this could be a new cult brew :D

Very simple process. I made it up as I went along.

1 x Woodfordes Wherry 2 can kit

500g brewing sugar dissolved in boiling water and added to FV

appx 50g of Chinook hops - 25g steeped in boiling water for 30 mins, then hop tea added to FV at beginning.

Brew to 25Litres - I measured this at OG 1055

Hydrate the kit yeast in luke warm water for 15 mins before adding to wort at 21 degs.

After 7 days add the other 25g of dry hops to FV and stir gently into the wort.

Leave another 7 days before racking / bottling.

I have just bottled mine at day 14 - FG 1011 - Appx 5.7%

............all I can say is that this brew had the best smell all the way through fermentation, and as for the taste at bottling .... WOW :o  .... Fan - hoppy - tastic !!! Bitter / Citrus / Grapefruit / Aromatic .. mm mmm

This is most definitely the best so far !!! Can't wait for conditioning to finish !! Happy Xmas :)

Give it a go 8)

3 weeks bottled, so I cracked one open last night :D

Absolutely stunning pint, the hops and extra sugar have transformed this into a very nice stronger beer.

It has mellowed and tastes very very nice .... should be bliss by Xmas (if it lasts)

.....I've just put another Wherry on this morning, a similar brew but experimenting a little further :

25g Chinook / 25g Magnum - steeped for 45 mins and added tea to FV

500g Brewing sugar

Will dry hop after 7 days, for 7 days with Cascade 8)

Can't wait for this one either !!!!!

I'll gladly join the neutral arbitration panel. We're going to need lots of each in order to render judgment.

This post has inspired me to brew another Wherry with hop additions, but I can't decide on what hop to use.

I'm toying between Challenger, East Kent Goldings, Fuggles or Brewers Gold...........

MB

Edit: forgot the Syrian Goldings (Celeia)

AG#42 - Heritage Double Ale - 10.5%
