GW Arkell's Mash Tun Mild

Post by oz11 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 3:46 pm

Looking for a quick mild to brew and this was first in the list.

Anyone tried brewing it? It uses about 25% crystal malt which seems like a lot (target OG is 1036).

Leaning towards the next recipe in the book as it's easier on the crystal :)

It is a lot of crystal but it's a fabulous recipe. It suggests tastes notes of nuts, vanilla and chocolate and it's all three of those.
I made one last Christmas and have just done another for this Christmas (albeit with fruit in this year).
Go for it!

I have done a mild with 25% crystal and came out very nice, no hesitation about making it again. I did make it stronger than your recipe though, a bit over 4%.
