Newcastle Brown Wherry.....

Post by ebbadger » Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:16 pm

trying to stock up ready for xmas / new year and in addition to the wherry and also fruit cider i decided to try an experiment, it was either brew short the wilkos newkie brown kit and maybe hop it, or brew the second wherry kit or the option i finally chose....

brew a 3 can newcastle brown wherry..... brewed to 25 litres its given a og of 1.055... bit high but we'll see, added a tablespoon of yeast nutrient and smell is fantastic, the newkie cheap tin was almost molasses 'black' and smelled great

so it'll either be a resounding success or a £28 mistake :) time will tell lol

cheers steve

I like your style Badge =D>

Nothing ventured nothing gained, if it turns out slightly ropey a 55 with a turbo cider chaser will hit the spot, if it tastes sublime your on to a winner.

Win win in my book !!

This sounds quite an interesting combo... Would appreciate your findings on what the final outcome is like :)

well as posted elsewhere... racked into a glass carboy tonight @ 1.016 from 1.055, still bubbling slowly but carboys have 1mm hole in lid n cork breathing disc in lid so assuming it will give a layer of co2 to protect beer by moving early. hoping for a 1.012-14 finish but although cloudy n green what a gorgeous taste.... slightly sweeter than my wherry, a fair bit darker (newkie was molasses black) ..... i really think this may be a resounding success when moved to my new shiny cornie in a fortnight... fingers crossed :)

cheers steve
