PBW - Excel Calculation sheet

Following on from a request from orlando I've created a 1st version of an Excel calculation sheet to work out weight of PBW to add when making up a cleaning solution.

Variables are
a) Litres of cleaning solution you are making
and
b) Drop down list of type of cleaning you're doing.

BTW Unfortunately I don't have any PBW.
I could add volume amounts if I knew density of PBW eg weight of teaspoon of PBW (5.91939cc) or (better) weight of 100cc of PBW.

First class John, thank you very much a really good tool to have. As an example I wanted to just clean my plate chiller from yesterdays brew. I had already given it a good flush but was unhappy as I saw bits of hop coming out. I can get the chiller in a small bucket and have it covered and soaking in as little as 3 litres of water. My guess up till now was approx. 5 grams per litre, your calculator suggests this is light by 2 grams (1,9 to be precise). Another thing I like to do is clean my 2 litre flask for making starters, again small amounts which I can now accurately clean properly.

My only complaint is I will probably be using a lot more PBW and it is wickedly expensive, but not as bad as throwing a brew down the drain.

On further examination I have noticed that the Non CIP clean has the same cleaning method as CIP.

I used the cleaning method I saw on the image below, which seems to be the same, apart from a different dosage for all cleaning apart from the Carbonized / Protien stained stuff.

I can add other types of cleaning , methods & dosing if you want?

Have you got some way of accurately weighing say 25, 50 or 100cc of PBW so I can add a line indicating number of teaspoons to use?

I have some gram scales but nothing that I can measure cc's in. I remember there is a podcast somewhere that has John Palmer and possibly Jamil interviewing a guy prom 5 Star that might contain a bit more information, unfortunately I can't remember where or whether it was linked to form on here. If I remember I will point you at it.

I found some useful info from Jim Jennings from Five Star

I've included this info to include added dosage options based on volume. See:

As before feedback appreciated.

I've also added an option to soak for homebrewers as most of the other info was for CIP / commercial cleaning. There's lots of varying suggestions for dosage on the web, but I've based on the dosage in this calc sheet on info from Five Star.

I couldn't see anything specific on PBW's use with different materials apart from a mention on
John Palmer - How To Brew - Brewing Metallurgy

A 1% of PBW solution is about 11-12 ph, so its very alkaline, so personally I wouldn't let it sit in Aluminium for long.
