Fairly simple Porter

Post by sunny_jimbob » Mon Dec 17, 2012 11:18 am

Nipped to the LHBS at the weekend to grab some VWP, and to my surprise SWMBO told be to grab a bag of grain and some yeast too! So I now have the gear for a last brew of 2012, and had to spend a bit thinking what to actually brew. I decided a fairly straightforward porter may be the answer, so knocked the below recipe together. What do you guys think? I'm not 100% sure on the hops. I currently have Target and Bobek (obviously), plus some Northdown and some Amarillo when they arrive. Any feedback will be gratefully accepted :)

I've been musing further on this, and I'm wondering about (post fermentation) racking and priming as normal, bottling say 2/3 of it, then adding coffee to the remaining 1/3 for an experimental coffee porter.

Well taking from another thread for a chocolate stout the agree way was to add x amount of chocolate essence to your pint pot before chucking the stout on top and keep experimenting till you get to a level you like then next time if you brew again you can expedient it to the volume you require
