Has anyone brewed a clone of this? My old man loves it so I was thinking of brewing him a batch for his birthday in a few months time.
The info they put out on it seems all over the place, and the abv of it changes too for some reason -
Here's what I have come up with from info on their website and a bottle and googling
OG - 1.072
FG -1.016
ABV - 7.2%
IBU - 36
SRM - 19
Pale Malt - 90%
Crystal 60 - 7%
Oats - 2%
Black patent - 1%
hops for 20l batch
Target - 60m - 30IBU - 30g
6 IBUs @20m
Casccade - 20m 7g
Golding - 20m 7g
Cascade - whirlpool 7g
Golding - whirlpool 7g
Dryhop - cascade, 12g
Wyeast 1275
aerate 16hours after fermentation begins for the double drop effect
Thoughts?
Happy New too!
Brakspear Triple Recipe
Re: Brakspear Triple Recipe
Never tried brewing it but a beer that I do enjoy. I made some notes a while ago. I have written Northdown for bittering which came from Protz. Disappointed to see the strength has been reduced to 6.7% from 7.2%.
I trust you'll be aiming for 7.2%?

Re: Brakspear Triple Recipe
cheers, I certainly will
The strength is back up to 7.2 . -edit Actually the BB on the 7.2% bottle I have is for Oct 2012, so maybe not - I saw that Northdown was used in the 1001 beers book, but then their website says Target is used (but they don't mention any other ones on it) And they also say there that oats are used
On the bottle It says "Golding, Syrian and cascade hops are added in both the copper and the whirlpool with a further late addition of whole cascade hops during fermentation"
I wrote that recipe while enjoying some hogmanay drinks before going out, I think I might leave out the 20min addition maybe and bump up the 60 min

Re: Brakspear Triple Recipe
Good luck with it, will wait with interest. Oddly my most recent bottle (BB Feb 13) does not have any useful information re hops on it. Instead it is promoting a goblet and coaster offer.
Let us know when you brew it and how it turns out.
